Uncle Dugs Bio 2016 Rinse FM’s award winning jungle DJ Uncle Dugs started his career back in the early 90’s after attending his first rave and getting hooked on the vibe of rave music. Dugs went on to join pirate radio station Conflict FM in the mid 90’s, from here he went on to play on various stations which ended up with him landing a show on Rinse FM in 1999.
It wasn’t long before Dugs ended up managing the station alongside owners Geeneus and Slimzee looking after the everyday running of the station and all the artists that were on Rinse at the time including Dizzee Rascal, Wiley, Skepta, Logan Sama, Skream, Hatcha, Target, Caspa, Lethal Bizzle, Tinchy Stryder and many more. By 2005 the 1st part of Dugs’s Rinse career came to an end and in January 2006 he joined the legendary jungle / dnb pirate station Kool FM.
This was where his career as a DJ really started to take off. In no time Dugs found himself playing for all the big parties around the UK. After gaining a full London radio license in 2010 Rinse asked Dugs to come back and host a rave history show which he agreed to and has done since early 2011. His radio show Run Come Follow Friday (#RCFF) has become one of the most popular shows in rave radio history gaining him a Sony award nomination, DJ Mag best radio show nomination and multiple nominations at all the dnb / jungle awards since it started.
The shows popularity has seen its #RCFF hashtag trend on Twitter 20+ times which proves how many listeners Dugs has as well as how loyal his family of listeners are. Dugs now plays all over the world for the biggest rave and festival promoters as well as hosting arenas and stages. Although his radio show specialises in the older style of rave and jungle music when Dugs plays out in clubs you can expect a mixture of both old and new styles. One of his strengths is the ability to read the crowd and drop the right tune at the right time especially towards the end of his set when he is often known to throw a curveball in just to push the vibe up another notch.
Dugs also runs many of his own promotions one of which is an event called Vibena Jungle which see’s him playing the whole nights music with guest MCs passing through to host. These events regularly sell out within 10 minutes of launching with no flyer, line up(the apart from his own name) or venue details which is testament to Dugs’s pulling power as a DJ in the current world of rave acts. As well as the music side of things Dugs has recently just written his autobiography ‘Rave Diaries And Tower Block Tales’ which has been published and released highlighting all the stories from his rave and radio past. Strong book sales have proven that his popularity amongst the ravers and listeners he plays to week in week out is as strong now as it has ever been.
